Seasonal Home Decor

While in quarantine, we suddenly had to scramble to pick up a new hobby. Whether it was cooking/baking new recipes, walking/hiking the nearby trails, or inventing new card games, it occupied us in the meantime from the outside world. In our house, we decorated and redecorated everything from the outside patio/deck to the guest bedroom. It’s a project that can give an old space, a refreshed look + feel. Since the holidays are approaching and we’re still stuck inside, let’s revamp our everyday space to feel more like home.

SUMMER —> FALL/WINTER

It’s finally time to break out the flannel sheets, comfy throw pillows, and knit blankets.

In the winter, I want to stay as warm as possible. Chilly season is the perfect excuse to have more pillows + blankets on your bed (or around the house). It’s also that time to add sheets to your bed again. If you’re basically cold-blooded like me, you will fall in LOVE with flannel sheets! They’re soft, cozy, and keep you warm in the brisk months.

Additionally, changing some bedroom decor to match the season is a must. As you can see, I took some things on my shelf and replaced them with more festive items - pumpkin, fall candle, and some fall flowers. These little touches make all the difference when preparing for the holiday season.

HOLIDAY DECOR

With Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas being extremely close together, don’t panic! I recommend decorating a couple different areas in your house, apartment, condo, etc. for each holiday instead of decking out the entire thing to then be overwhelmed. Here are some ideas↓

Halloween: decorate your kids doors, carve pumpkins + put them on your front porch, fill your bathroom with cob webs + spiders, place a ‘Happy Halloween’ sign above your mantle

Thanksgiving: dress up your kitchen table with a centerpiece, add some fresh flowers to your ottoman tray, put pumpkins + candles going up your staircase

Winter/Christmas: attach a wreath to your front door, add pine on the mantle, kitchen island, etc., fill your couch with festive pillows

For Fall, we subtly added some mini pumpkins, festive flowers, and candles to our ottoman and kitchen island trays. Our decorations will be an easy switch out for winter while still adding the perfect Fall touch to our apartment.

Side note: you can never have enough trays! Trays are a great addition to anywhere in your home and oftentimes, brings the space together.
