THE WEEKEND

FRIDAY NIGHT

We arrived at our cabin around 6:30 to unpack, then headed out for a Wisconsin classic, a Friday night fish fry. We ate at Ding Tavern which was full of fun locals, big basketball energy for the Bucks game, and delicious, crispy fish. After a big Bucks win, we headed back to our Getaway cabin to relax and play card games. Pro Tip: Don’t play me in golf, I’m pretty good! I went 2-0 on the weekend!

SATURDAY

Waking up here was like a dream! The giant window provided an incredible view of the snow covered ground and trees. Truly breathtaking. We enjoyed some muffins for breakfast before getting ready for a day full of snowboarding.

We spent the day at Nordic Mountain in Mt. Morris. It was a beautiful sunny day and the hill was full of fresh powder so it couldn’t have gone any better. Not to mention, I finally really figured out being comfortable on a snowboard so it was a definite win! For lunch, we ate at their onsite dining called Nordy’s Pub. Highly recommend sharing their loaded nachos! They were the best nachos I’ve ever had!

After wrapping up on the hill, we hit Omega Brewing Co. in Omro, WI (about 30 minutes from the ski hill). It was a very small establishment yet the beer was fantastic! It was couple-owned and they had lots of options to choose from. Whatever you enjoy to drink, they definitely have it on tap!

When we got back to the cabin, we prepped everything to cook dinner - a plate of cheese & spinach ravioli with a side of zucchini. It was the best meal to enjoy after a long day snowboarding. Can’t forget that we finally broke into our bottle of wine we got from Napa a couple months ago.

To end the night, we made a fire! One of my favorite summer activities is sitting around the fire, listening to music and being surrounded by good company. So, it gave me a glimpse into what’s ahead. We made some s’mores, told stories and stared up at the star-filled sky.

The cabin was the perfect atmosphere, spot to escape, and the most cozy environment.

SUNDAY

Woke up Sunday morning with the sun shinning and ready to tackle the day! We had to checkout by 11am so we made a quick breakfast and went on a walk around the cabin neighborhood. It was an incredible weekend! I wish I could live in one of these cabins permanently. It was such a perfect getaway that it didn’t even feel like we were in Wisconsin!

Did I convince you now? Go book your Getaway! We all need a reminder to slow down, find the peace & quiet in the chaos, and disconnect from our devices. Enjoy :)
